03/01/17 Solar Conjunction

Solar Conjunction

It’s that time again! This week, we will be seeing outages due to the Solar Conjunction for approximately 8 to 10 minutes at a time throughout the day on certain channels.
Solar Conjunction occurs when solar radiation overwhelms a satellite signal. Communication with any spacecraft in Solar Conjunction will be severely limited due to the sun’s interference on radio transmissions from the spacecraft.
Just sit tight though, the interruptions don’t last long! This Solar Conjunction episode should last roughly one week.
You can read more about Solar Conjunction or “Sun Outages” online at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_outage
